Netflix Dominates Emmy Nominations

HBO has spent the past 17 years raking in the most Emmy nominations. But this year, Netflix knocked them off the pedestal with 112 nominations.

HBO took in a solid 108 nominations, and its blockbuster show Game of Thrones alone received 22 nominations, the most for a single show. HBO’s other big hit, Westworld, was nominated 21 times (which tied it with Saturday Night Live).

Netflix won its first Emmy in 2013 with House of Cards, and since then, the streaming platform has snapped up big names for forthcoming shows and movies, including former president Barack Obama and media mogul Shonda Rhimes, proving that they are the force to beat.
